Open

Open my 2012 to possibility.
 Open my mind to learn.
  Open my door to listen.
Open my life to His plan.
    Open my eyes to perspective.
     Open my arms to hug.
     Open my ears to input.
     Open my hands to embrace.
Open my bible to seek the truth in His word.
  Open my mouth to pray.
 Open my words to connect.
Open my thoughts to change.

Connected

I enjoy feeling connected. Actually I love it. I long for it. I need it. Somewhere in my DNA God stitched in the connection string.

Feeling connected is having my head, my heart, my body, my spirit, my soul aligned with the people in my life. It means I listen more than I talk. It means I counsel, mentor and guide when asked. It means I help other people make connections, too.

It means I step back to see the bigger picture and I recognize each individual in it. Seeing the bigger picture helps me make connections that honor people’s skills, talents, and actions. I love seeing those moments come to fruition. I smile when people feel like they can share their knowledge by connecting to another person and it will make a difference.

Instead of boundaries, I see possibilities just beyond the border of what exists today.

We do not live in silos. We do not live alone. Life is a linked web which is stronger because each of us is a part of it; all of us human beings collectively living together.

Connectedness is humanity.

Color

I don’t think of black and white as colors, although technically I guess they are.

M. Powers 2011

I think of color as royal, majestic, playful, fun and sincere, not boring, plain and simple. Purple is my favorite.
Color balances life. Color brightens life. Color expresses who I am, how I am feeling, and my personality.

S. Powers 2010

Nantucket blue with brown is calm, serene and cozy. It feels grounded.
Lime green with pink is fun, edgy and active. It is very savvy like.
Velvet red is warm, inviting and exciting. It is love.
Burnt orange is safe, trusting and courageous. It is stability.
Mossy green is welcoming, homey and conversational. It is peace.

Nature is filled with wonderful examples of His beauty:
a delicate rainbow, a rich blanket of grass, a peaceful hillside, an open sunflower, or a fire orange sunset. It screams, "Look at me because in this moment I am beautiful."

I am beautiful. His love and grace color me beautiful.

Tired

M. Powers 2008 Arizona Desert
I never know those moments when I am going to feel tired. It is as if it sneaks up on me. It arrives and I wonder how did that happen?

Am I really tired? Or do I just feel tired?

Perhaps it would be easier if tiredness were more like a sunset where I could watch the colors unfold and the day come to an end in darkness. Then rest.

I could wake the next morning to watch the sunrise with its beauty, stretching as the day comes to life.

I would like to have that renewed feeling every day. Rested. Never tired. Ready for all that life has to offer and seeking the beauty that surrounds me.

And a rainbow every now and then wouldn't hurt.
